Steffi | Operational security officer
For me, flexibility rhymes with safety and free time.
Gymnastics teacher
"My childhood dream? Become a gymnastics teacher! And I was doing well during my studies, with no less than 18 hours of sports per week. Until back problems suddenly turned my world upside down. Fortunately, I was flexible with it even then: I was able to spend my energy in dance lessons to children after school hours. And because helping people gives me energy, it became a home care course. But in the end I only found my way at NN. And that's no coincidence.'
The orange thread in my life
'NN actually runs like a red – or rather: orange thread through my life. My mom has been working at HR for years & I did summer jobs here from the age of 15. I was immediately charmed by the colleagues and the good atmosphere. When I was looking for work in home care after school, there just happened to be a temporary vacancy at NN. I thought: I'll take my chance. At least that way I have a job and in the meantime I can look forward to it. Did that turn out differently ...'
Worry-free IT
'I've been working here for 10 years now and if it depends on me, it will continue for a long time. If you like to learn, you will have every opportunity at NN. Look at me: started with the mailroom team and after a few other temporary assignments, a full-time IT job became available. Miles away from my studies, but I still went for it. At the UAM team, they mainly entrusted me with the management of the accesses of the colleagues. A new world opened up for me.'
Lifelong learning
'After a few years, another IT challenge crossed my path: Operational Security Officer. Again completely new, and again I got the time to familiarize myself. And that was necessary, because with such a versatile job, no day is the same. With our team of 3, we always tackle new challenges. From registering security incidents to managing accesses in the event of, for example, organizational changes. Fortunately, we complement each other perfectly. Finding that happy medium together between guaranteeing optimal safety and still ensuring that colleagues can work smoothly - that makes me genuinely happy.'
At home in many markets
'There is still a lot to discover within IT and I am very much looking forward to that. But it will have to wait soon, because I am expecting my second child. The fact that we are now also renovating our house makes it extra busy. Fortunately, working from home is obvious at NN. This leaves time for a good walk with the dogs or to test a new dish in the kitchen. Because I also opt for flexibility in my spare time!'
