'As a child, they sometimes ask you what you want to be when you grow up. A classic. I invariably had the same answer ready: teacher. When I think back on that now, I actually wanted to help people grow from a young age. And that's still the case. My life and certainly my career have gone in a completely different direction: through the bank to insurance. But today, in fact, I'm doing part of what I dreamed of back then: training and coaching.'

Professional knowledge and people knowledge

'Nine years ago I started at Telecel as a Customer Advisor. In the beginning, I mainly gave advice to customers and bank employees over the phone. My strength? I had worked at a bank for 11 years, so in terms of professional knowledge it was a mustache. But perhaps my knowledge of people as an asset was even more important. I could and can empathise with the people on the other side of the line.'

Train, share, monitor

'After a few years, I moved on to my current position: Senior Customer Care Officer. A job with four important roles. I work on projects, give training to colleagues, I ensure that my team always has the right product information and I do quality control. The latter is about reading e-mails, checking the processing of files, but also listening to the calls of colleagues. These conversations are an ideal source of information and inspiration for me. Because that way I can give them targeted tips and feedback. I love guiding and helping my colleagues grow - I get a lot of satisfaction from that.' 

A matter of good balance

'What I also enjoy are my own creative projects: painting furniture, planting herbs, creating the garden ... NN offers you flexibility to keep work and private life nicely balanced. Long before corona, you could work from home for a few days, if work allowed. I've been able to taste more of this now... The travel time I gain, both myself and my children benefit from that.'

Never a dull moment for Mama Taxi

'Just like in the Customer Care department, there is rarely a dull moment in our home. The two creative teenagers go all out. My son plays drums and football, and my daughter sings in musicals and takes dance lessons. Are you surprised they ever call me Mama Taxi? But of course I do that with great pleasure. I enjoy watching my children grow up and grow.'
