Going the extra mile

In my spare time you will regularly find me on my BMX. Cycling in nature, racing in the woods, that's what I enjoy. And even then I like to give it a rag – or better: up stairs!'
The apple does not fall far from the tree
'For many young people, the insurance world is a far-from-their-bed show. They prefer to become doctors, firefighters or police officers. Me too though. But with one serious difference: both my mom and dad worked in the industry. This allowed me to start as a student at NN – then delta lloyd. And now, 12 years later, I still enjoy working here. The apple clearly didn't fall far from the tree.'
Step by step forward
'NN is and does much more for me than a traditional employer. The company helps me to realize my ambitions step by step. I started on the archive. After a few years, I had the opportunity to switch to the contact center. A nice evolution towards 'management' that I really wanted to go to in the long term. And at the same time the ideal opportunity to improve my knowledge of Dutch, because I helped customers progress in both national languages. In the meantime, I have already taken a new step. Today I work as a Life Insurance Officer in the Employee Benefits (EB) team. I was given responsibility for my own portfolio of brokers and direct clients. What makes my job so exciting? With us you really do everything, from A to Z, from initial proposals to the management of the contract.'
Collegial and family
'What I see myself doing in the near and distant future, I'm not quite sure yet. Who knows, maybe I'll grow into a team leader. In any case, it remains my ambition to always go one step further. I have been working as an administrator for about 2 years now. And I always say, a day not learned is a day not lived. So I try to learn as much as possible from my colleagues and managers, but also through education and training. One thing is certain: I certainly want to develop further within NN. Because even though almost everything has changed in those 12 years, that family atmosphere that lives in our company and our team remained the same. And I could hardly miss it.'
